Team Management

“Just to be clear, every racer has a team,” states author Tom Martin in a recent Winding Road article titled Simple Steps To Managing Your Team Better.  “The ‘team’ might be you. Period. It might be you and a friend, or you and anyone you can find to help at the track. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, it might be a full complement of mechanics and engineers on a professional arrive-and-drive team.”

So, since every racer has some sort of team, what’s the best way to get the most from teammates? Martin believes the root of proper team management rests in having clear goals.  But what should those goals be and how does a team help achieve those goals?

For answers to such questions, check out the Top 10 list of the best uses for a team at Winding Road.  The off season is a great time to ponder some of the philosophical aspects of motor racing, and the article just might get you thinking ahead, which could put you ahead when the racing season comes back around.
