2017 Toledo Champ Tour: 5toGo

Entry List

Tradition has it that the SCCA generally makes its final stop on the Championship Tour circuit in the town of Swanton, Ohio, home of the Toledo Express Airport, and this year is no different.  On July 28th, the  Toledo Champ Tour is the last taste of national three-run style autocross that competitors will get to experience before the Solo National Championship in September.  The smooth, yet abrasive signature bright white concrete of Toledo is known for its high grip characteristics, and also known as perhaps the hardest site on tires in the Great Lakes Region.

The Toledo Champ Tour is always one of the mostly hotly contested events of the entire season in several different classes, as it only took about 48 hours to reach the 300 driver cap for this event.  Located just 10 miles outside of the city of Toledo, Swanton is conveniently located off I-475, and the Ohio Turnpike.  Those at the event looking for food won’t have to travel far, as Northwest Ohio Region's most famous food truck, Big C’s BBQ will be on site with delicious smoked pulled pork and much more.  Visiting the Express Airport without a stop at Big C’s BBQ will surely have your fellow racers questioning your sanity.

Looking for something else to do near the event site?  Check out the beautiful Side Cut Metropark, or the Fallen Timbers Historic Battlefield site.  Looking for somewhere to take the kids?   Check out the Maumee Sports Mall, just 5 miles down the road, the vintage Maumee Movie Theater, or even the Splash Bay Indoor Water Park.

Heading into the City?   Plenty to see at the Toledo Museum of Art, or the even the Toledo Zoo, and National Museum of the Great Lakes.  Don’t miss out on the Toledo nightlife, with great local breweries nearby including Maumee Bay Brewing, and Black Cloister Brewing Companies.

Hopefully your name is among one of the 300 preregistered entrants, as this event is at full capacity and will have solo racers at home rapidly refreshing their Solo Live browsers keeping track of who’s on top, to gauge which drivers will be the ones to look out for at Solo Nationals just over a month later.
